I want to encourage you to know and understand a true and powerful fact; everyone has the seeds of greatness inside of them. Mindset Timeout | What Separates Good, From Great
Friday Jun 12, 2020
Friday Jun 12, 2020
What Separates Good from Great
In the world of athletics, there are way more average athletes then there are great athletes, I call it the 10-80-10. The upper 10% are the great ones or the game-breakers, the 80% are those who are good enough to play (some better than others, about a 50/50 split) and the lower 10% are hanging on by a thread. Some people don’t want to be great and that’s okay, but they want ALL the benefits that come along with greatness. So when people complain about the lack of ‘greatness’ in their lives, I tell them it’s a simple case of cause and effect. You haven't achieved greatness because you don't put in the work and effort to earn the rewards that greatness requires. Greatness is truly a mindset first and then the work and effort second. Take a 10-minute Time-Out and with pen and paper, take note of what Coach Gord has to say about the mindset of being great.

Mindset Timeout | Perception is NOT Reality
Thursday Jun 04, 2020
Thursday Jun 04, 2020
Perception is not reality, but, honestly, perception can become what appears to be a person’s reality (there is a difference) because perception has a potent influence on how we look at life and the world around us. We hear it all the time in marriages, in athletics, and in business anytime there is a disagreement or conflict: “Perception is reality.” This adage is often used to justify a particular perception that may be somewhat unjustifiable or just plain out of touch with what's true and not so true. Welcome to this edition of TIME OUT...! I hope this episode will engage you and help to inspire you to see your reality. Enjoy!

Mindset Timeout | Who You Are Is More Important Than What
Friday May 15, 2020
Friday May 15, 2020
It is quite easy to define your value or worth based on what you do in life because we equate power with position and title. For most people, it can be easy to get caught up in the things that are visible for everyone to see whether you are a star athlete, a real estate investor or business owner etc... We sometimes have to remind ourselves that who we ARE is actually more important than what we do. This simple statement is easy to forget, but it’s something we could all use as a daily reminder. Personally, in my own journey there have been times when I put more value on what I am able to do as a coach and as a mindset specialist than celebrating who I am as a person. Enjoy this short message with some thoughts and reminders I hope will bring you back to who you are...

000 - Why Mindset Matters with Coach Gord MacFarlane
Monday May 04, 2020
Monday May 04, 2020
This episode, our subject matter presentation is "Why mindset matters". As coaches, we would like it if all our athletes would be confident, optimistic, and coachable all of the time but that rarely comes to fruition and the thought then becomes, that's just an unrealistic expectation! The reality is, coaches have the power and ability to do this more frequently if they would only consider modifying their own mindset approach. We are not in the sports business; we are in the people business! Balls don't move people, and pucks don't move people, people move balls and pucks! The more we know how to motivate and inspire the faith, belief, and confidence of our athletes, a mindset shift happens and their desire to compete grows exponentially.
Here's a simple concept to understand; research tells us that if a person feels good about who they are, what they do, tends to almost always be done with more effort and enthusiasm. So our objective is to truly know the character and mindset of our athletes so we are able to effectively motivate and inspire them to better performance. This episode will share the power of mindset and why it matters. Come enjoy the journey of discovery.
