Mindset Timeout | The 3 Key Habits to Making Better Connections
Thursday Oct 29, 2020
Thursday Oct 29, 2020
Every single person ever born does not have the natural ability to develop and build great relationships with other people. These are called "people skills" or "soft skills" that have to be taught to us over a period of many years when we are younger. Like any other skill, they can be learned and mastered so we can experience regular success at connecting with others. We can ALL become better at building relationships by learning specific connection skills at the front end of our interactions and that will help us to have many solid relationships throughout life. Without good connections, it will be very difficult to build good relationships. This episode will provide 3 simple keys to help us all make better connections. Enjoy your Time Out with Coach Gord and thanks for tuning in...!

I have been a coach trainer and mentor for well over 1000 coaches in my 20 plus years of providing mentorship and behavioral insights to athletic coaches. I have also provided leadership and business development for 1000's of business managers and leaders. I have heard the same story from countless athletes and countless employees as well, that they QUIT their team or QUIT their job because they hated their coach or hated their boss. Many times I have heard from dozen and dozens of people (athletes and employees alike) who are all too happy to tell me how rude and awful their coach or boss was, and how they didn't understand them, didn't use them to their full potential, or didn't give them a fair opportunity so they QUIT. So, I did some research to find out what the actual reasons were that made people quit their job or their team. I found the top 5 things that are common for both athletes and employees as to WHY they HATE their coaches or boss and I will give you 5 more bonus things as well. So, take a Time Out and BUCKLE UP, and let's see if you have experienced any of these as well...! Thanks for joining me...!

A very worthy and satisfying goal for one's life would be to strive to be the kind of person who makes this their daily task: “Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody”. We have all know someone or have met someone whose energy is electric, positive, uplifting, and contagious. So what does it take to be that kind of person...? A person who can turn cloudy days bright and flip a frown upside down...!! Mindset Timeout | Offer a Skillfull Critique
Thursday Oct 01, 2020
Thursday Oct 01, 2020
In business or athletic coaching, most leaders don't like the thought of giving negative feedback to anyone on their teams. The very thought of holding someone accountable is not a comfort zone for most folks. "What if it doesn't go well?" they ask... "What if they completely miss the point? Or, worse yet, what if they get upset?" Those were valuable concerns because it almost never feels good when you are on the receiving end of critical feedback. "Almost," because as you will hear in this episode, there's a way to frame your feedback that will completely change the way others receive it, and it hinges on a very powerful concept: Grab a coffee and have a listen to what I have to say about how to offer up a skillful critique...! Thanks for joining me...enjoy...!
